JOSÉ CASCALHO

José M. Cascalho has a Phd. in Computer Science from Azores University. He is assistant professor  at the Azores University. His main research interests are the multiagent systems and intelligent robotics as subfields of Artificial Intelligence. He has been working with educational robotics more recently.

ARMANDO B. MENDES

Armando B. Mendes has a PhD in System Engineering from University of Lisbon. He is associated professor at the Azores University. His main research interests are the System Engineering in the areas of Data Sience and Machine Learning. 

GUNTHER MATTHIAS FUNK

Matthias Funk completed his master's degree in Computer Science (Networking/Computer Graphics) in 1992 and his PhD in Mathematics (Number Theory) in 2003 at the University of Mannheim (Germany). He is working at the University of the Azores since 1993 where he became assistant professor in 2003. He works in the areas of game theory, cultural and social strategy studies (including multi-agent systems), artificial intelligence and game development.

JOÃO MIGUEL TAVARELA FERREIRA

João Miguel Ferreira is assistant professor  at the Azores University and has a PhD in Astronomy from University of Sussex (UK).

His main research interests are in both magnetohydrodynamics and theoretical ecology.

MARIA JOÃO BARROS

Maria João Barros was graduated in Civil Engineering, has a master's degree in Soil and Rock Mechanics, and a PhD in Civil Engineering in the field of Geotechnics. She works on the area of Geotechnics, with emphasis on the geotechnical characterization of volcanic soils, the seismic response of geotechnical structures, and the susceptibility of soils to liquefaction or cyclic mobility phenomena. Other Research Interests are characterization of the building stock on conservation status, their seismic vulnerability and energy performance.

PAULO MEDEIROS

Paulo J. F. Medeiros has a Phd. in Algebra from Azores University. He is auxiliar professor at the Azores University. His main research interests are the use of robotics to teach Mathematics from primary to secondary education. 

NÁDIA MEDEIROS

Nádia Medeiros has a Ph.D. in Information Sciences and Technologies from the University of Coimbra, Portugal. She is currently auxiliar professor at the Azores University. She specializes in the scientific field of informatics engineering, with a particular focus on security and dependability of computer systems. Her main research interests include trustworthiness, benchmarking, and software quality assurance. She has authored several peer-reviewed publications in these fields.

BRUNO COSTA

Bruno J. Afonso Costa completed his 5-years bachelor’s degree of Civil Engineering in 2000 at the University of Beira Interior and received his post-graduation in Civil Engineering Structures at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) in 2003. In this Faculty he has also completed his PhD studies related to the Structural Identification of Old Steel Bridges in 2013.

At the present time he is a project and contract manager at the Azorean electrical company EDA - Electricidade dos Açores, S.A.His research interests include Non-Destructive Testing and Evaluation of Structures, Structural Health Monitoring, Numerical Simulation and Experimental Characterization, Structural Safety and Dynamics, Rehabilitation and Strengthening of Structures.

GUILHERME SILVA

Guilherme de Oliveira e Silva holds a 5-year MSc in Aerospace Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, a PhD in Engineering and Technology from Université libre de Bruxelles, and an MBA from Solvay Business School, both in Belgium. His primary research interests encompass energy, engineering, innovation, and policy.

ALBERTO RAMOS

Completed his master's degree in Information Systems at the University of Minho in 2003, has a degree from the Military Academy in Military Sciences in the speciality of Transmissions and a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Telecommunications branch, from the Instituto Superior Técnico. His interests lie in the areas of electronics, communications and, more recently, educational robotics.

FRANCISCO PEDRO

Natural sciences teacher at EBI Rabo de Peixe, currently coordinator of the robotics club. He collaborates on various IS2E projects and is a founding member of PROBOT.

PAULO LEITE

Graduated in Computer Networks and Multimedia, programmer at GLOBALEDA. Certified in KNX - EiB. He has been developing personal and professional projects in the field of automation and programming for over 20 years. He is interested in IoT, KNX-EiB, robotics and web development.

JORGE PACHECO

Graduate in Informatics from the University of the Azores, teacher in group 550 - Informatics. He is interested in teaching Artificial Intelligence in schools.  He is responsible for the platform Web & IA
