what is the mission of this lab?
The lab has as main target to create and test educational robotics for schools and other educational institutions. It intends to foster the Computational Thinking and to promote the discussion around the topics of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
Educational robotics is part of the activity in Portuguese schools. In the Azores, these clubs were created recently and exist in a large number of schools throughout the archipelago, opening up space for many learning experiences using robots.
This laboratory, which is part of reseach group, will make it possible to experiment with robots, connect them to schools, explore their use in an educational context together with teachers and provide a scientific basis for their use in the classroom or in other competitive environments (e.g. Robotics Festivals).
Areas of interest
O Laboratório intervêm em áreas de formação e de investigação. No que respeita à formação:
Pós-graduação PRIA: Suporta atividades de robótica a todos os formandos que participam nesta pós-graduação.
Licenciatura em Informática: Suporta atividades no contexto de unidade curricular do primeiro ano que aborda os temas da Robótica, Programação, Impressão 3D, Internet das Coisas.
Mestrado em Ensino de Informática: Este mestrado (em avaliação pela A3ES) irá promover a atividade robótica na formação de professores desde o pré-escolar ao terceiro ciclo.
